I am a licensed clinical psychologist with a Filipino-American background practicing in Florida. My path to becoming a psychologist was a long one. I’ve had many careers before I decided to answer my calling. I worked for several companies, including two banks, a real estate company, and an insurance company, among others. I was all over the place and did not have any direction. Growing up in the Philippines with anxiety and trauma, I spent countless nights tossing and turning, not knowing what to do. My heart burned, and my anxiety told me I wasn’t enough and that I was a failure. I was taught to “just pray about it” and sweep it under the rug because we were not allowed to “air out dirty laundry.” Counseling was also considered taboo.
My experiences with anxiety and trauma motivated me to learn more about human behavior. I entered therapy and learned about the causes of anxiety, trauma, and self-kindness. My personal history and witnessing the struggles of those around me allowed me to see people differently. I judge less, and I empathize more. My healing journey inspired me to enter graduate school, and now I help individuals with anxiety, depression, and trauma go from merely existing to flourishing.
When not at work, you’ll find me spending most of my time with my family and our dog, cooking, practicing yoga and meditation, walking or reading at the beach, and exploring the great outdoors. My guilty pleasures include binge-watching Netflix and frequenting local restaurants that serve cuisines of different cultures.
All of us, with no exception, deserve to be treated with respect, dignity, and compassion. My door is open to everyone, regardless of their race, religion, gender, age, sexual orientation, or identity.
Finding the right therapist, is like shopping for the “perfect pair of shoes.” You have to find the “right fit”. If we are not the “right fit”, I can help you find other therapists, who may be able to help you.
